Backing Board
Try MDF (medium density fibre board) which we call either DUO (2mm) or BISON (2.5mm). Neither of these boards are recommended for conservation framing. The traditional board which we call TECK BOARD is oil tempered and offers a degree of protection should the customer wish to hang their picture in a damp environment (an outside brick toilet for example). It is suitable for conservation framing. We also stock a CORRIGATED board called ART COR, which has a LOW pH level, again suitable for conservation framing.

ART COR size 36in x 48in
This board is pH neutral and may be used for conservation framing. It has a pH neutral core and inner surface the outer side has a damp proof membrane to resist water. Although I would not suggest you dunk a picture in water to test it! It is 2.5mm thick but because of the soft nature of this board can be squeezed to fit into narrow rebates.

CORREW
This board is very basic and only suitable for basic framing. It does not offer any sort of protection to the art work.

CORRIQ
Corriq is a new board and has a barrier sheet incorporated on the inner side. This means you can use CORRIQ to back your picture and also as a backing for the whole unit possibly cheaper than using barrier paper and backing. It is 36in x 48in.
