FLOAT GLASS

Glass cuts better when kept in a warm dry workshop. If kept in a cold/cool environment it will be brittle and tend not to cut cleanly. Do not score line more than once as glass cutter will be damaged and glass will not cut well.

We would not suggest you use 2mm glass for pictures larger that 3x4 feet. If you do have subjects larger than that size please consider using 4mm or preferably toughened glass. We can supply either. Price on application and please allow at least 14 days from order for delivery.

NON REFLECTIVE GLASS

We would suggest that ordinary non reflective glass does not offer any protection from UV light. Also the work needs to be in very close contact with the glass to achieve a diffused effect. If the subject is too far away then the picture will appear blurred.

To cut first score a couple of times with a SHARP knife then snap. Care should be taken when cleaning with glass cleaner as the surface may scratch.

GLASS CUTTERS

The only cutter we recommend is the one we are prepared to use ourselves. If they keep on working for us with the amount of glass we cut a week then they will work for YOU. Just remember that glass-cutters are for cutting glass and not for bouncing off concrete floors. Also remember that glass cuts best when warm, so try not to store in cold place.

HELPFUL TIP – Always keep your cutter, head down, in a jar lined with cotton wool soaked in cutting oil
